Like Predicate Behavior in SQLBase 9

My company has been running SQLBase since 1989. I have just upgraded a client to Version 9. Within our report writer we use Like predicates that often pass just the '%' percent sign for the search criteria. This of course has enabled the report to return all rows (including rows with a NULL value) In version 9 no rows are returned if the value of the column is NULL. Has anyone else observed this behavior and if so is there a fix for it?

TIA
