I purchased and installed Lightning PDF. It suposedly creates PDF's much faster than Adobe. Perhaps it's because it has Office programs preload itself while loading, therebye causing Office documents to open very slowly.

Is there any way to turn off this behavior?

I'd try looking in a couple of different places:
[ol]
[li]Office Com Add-ins: Any Office App File menu - Options - Add-Ins - COM Add-ins drop-down option, Go[/li]
[li]Windows Startup Folder: Windows Start menu - All Programs - Startup[/li]
[li]MSCONFIG: Windows Start Menu - type msconfig, hit <Enter>... look at Startup and Services
--If you do find one to disable under Services, you may want to do so via the Services window by typing services.msc at the start menu or Run command... or access via Computer Manageemnt..[/li]
