Hello there!

I would like to create a flashy line of light. like a glow that swiftly slides down the page, leaving a thin light line behind it. I am doing this in flash, but I am struggling with how to create this glowing neon flame.

First, does anyone have any cool ideas using photoshop?

Second, I tried to use the lighting effects filter, but everytime I do, the entire background turns black. How can I keep my background color?

Thanks for any and all help on this.

Just make the individual frames in PS. Play with gradient, opacity, noise, swirl etc to get the tail to look as you want it. Save as a .PNG file and export to flash. It really shouldn't be that tough.

yes, i have some ideas....

but do you know how to solve the lighting problem...the way thebg turns all black...because i cant import it into flash like that. my flash bg is green "#669999"

I don't think there is a way to avoid that. You can however, use marques, layers and cutting and pasting to get past it. It's not perfect but it works (kind of).

Try it in a marque and experiment.

Hi,

On the layer with your line goto SELECT-->LOAD SELECTION (or press Ctrl and click on the line layer) then apply your lighting effects. The reason I say this is b/c beofre you were applying the lighting effect to the while image (I assume that) but with a marquee only the area in the marquee will accept the lighting effect and you will be able to keep your background.

Hope this helps! NATE
