Working on a Sony Vaio PCV-200. Machine worked fine once after a move then when turned on goes thru post, hard drive light comes on but monitor does nothing. To test monitor I hooked up laptop to the monitor it worked fine. When I attach the monitor's data cable to the sony though the light on the front of the monitor imediately turns from green to amber. I installed a differant video card after the laptop test but had the same results. Anyone ever heard of this?

Light on monitor turns amber when connected to pc

Actually, I already tried this after laptop showed me that it was not a monitor problem. So the display card is new and has been tried in 2 ports with same results. The strange thing is when the monitor cable is pluged into pc the light turns amber, even though the pc is off. If you unplug it it will turn green again.
