greetings!
i have a question about a problem that is driving me crazy regarding the use of ligatures and glyphs in indesign CS. any input would be greatly appreciated since adobe had no free phone tech support, and i see no reference to this problem on adobes forums.
problem:
recently i received a job from a client (i work for a prepress department at a printing company) that was an indesign CS document. we were easily able to save and rip the pages with no problems. then a correction came in for 3 of the pages within this document...simply adding bleed to 3 images. this was done, pages resaved, and sent to press. the next day, press sheets came back showing where glyphs had replaced characters when the document had been resaved. any where that "fi" had been, now there was an Ü. you could see it clearly in the indesign document, so i know it was not a ripping problem. when i opened up the original indesign document, everything views fine. the same fonts are loaded...everything is exactly the same, except for this problem.
i cant even recreate the problem. i just am besides myself trying to figure this out, and i am very nervous that this could quietly happen again, without being noticed. any thoughts?
much appreciated!
