Our system was installed new with R7 and was upgraded to R8, which fixed some issues with our Nortel sets. Under licensing I have a "Virtual" license for my Essential Edition and Preferred Edition licenses. I am trying to explain to my provider that I need a real license key. They say that I don't and that the "Virtual" license won't expire. Who is right?
 
Did you have an upgrade license?
If not then upgrade to 8.0.18
When it is on 8.0.16 then it will expire.
