Licensing question

Hi I work in a Contact center with 160 desktops PC with Win XP OS.
I plan to install a Windows 2003 R2 server with a Domain Controller and join the 160 desktops to the domain. I don't really know how the CALs work but Do I have to buy 160 CALs in order to join all the desktops to the domain?
