Hello

I know there are a number of threads specific to licensing
I am struggling to find an exact answer

With 2000 ernterprise edition, if I had the following setup how many licenses are involved.

SQL Server 2000 with 2 dualcore processors +
Analysis Services with 2 dualcore processors

I've not seen how analysis services is handled and i've also seen conflicting views regarding dualcore processors (act as single processor vs 2 processors)

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Damian.

Check out FAQ962-5153. While it doesn't discuss Analysis Services, it does provide a couple of links that might help.

First you need to decide if you are going with CPU licenses or CALs for this machine.

Read through my FAQ that SQLBill directed you to. Feel free to post any followup questions in here.

MCSA (2003) / MCDBA (SQL 2000)
MCTS (SQL 2005 / Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Configuration / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Configuration)
MCITP Database Administrator (SQL 2005) / Database Developer (SQL 2005)

Thanks

Looking around, dualcore requires one license
Also, having AS on a seperate server requires a seperate license
Full solution would require 4 licenses
Looking at processor rather than CALs as there will be about 1000 people using it

Sounds like you've found your answers. The conclusions that you've drawn appear sound based on the information provided.
