I don't have a VFP 6 or 7 Licensing agreement available. I went to MS Knowledge Base and it was no help.

Where can I go to get this info.

I need to know about distribution of users for VFP.

In the older FoxPro version there was concurrent users licensing. Where the maximum number of users at any one time was how many users the agreement was for. Is this still in effect?

Ron,
Are you talking about the development environment or an app that you are distributing?

As far as I know.
All you need is developer's license. One per copies of VFP you have running (which you get when you purchase VFP).
As for users its pretty much up to you. Your app as royalty free (unless you wanted to limit the users and create a licensing scheme of your own.).

The EULA.txt describes the License agreement.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual FoxPro 7\Visual FoxPro 7.0 Professional - English\EULA.txt

While Fox Software had a multi-developer license, as far as I remember, MS only honored it for those that upgraded to FPD/FPW 2.6. After Microsoft "merged" with Fox Software, all new FoxPro software was issued with the standard MS developer agreement - one license - one developer. (I also believe that it at one time allowed installation on multiple systems, as long as the developer was only using one copy at the same time. This was so you could buy one copy and work on your "home" computer, and still take it with you on the road.)

Visual FoxPro ships with a number of redistributable merge modules that can be included in Windows Installer based applications. These merge modules include those for the Visual FoxPro runtime libraries, Activex Controls, and other commonly used shared components. These files are located in your ..\Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules\ directory. The following list contains many of the MSM files that ship with Visual FoxPro and can be used in your setups

Does this mean that i can't redistributable my VFP runtime library in .dll format ? or is it possible to convert those .msm file to .DLL? If possible then how do i do that ?

No. It states that The following list contains many of the MSM files that ship with Visual FoxPro and can be used in your setups, which to me means you can use them and install them with your setups.

Do I have to pay licensing to Microsoft if I develop and distribute an application?

rgbean I don't understand your reply. If I design a VFP program and distribute it. Do I have to pay any license to Microsoft for it?

No, all you need to do is purchase VFP once, which gives you 1 developer's license. Any application developped in VFP is royalty-free as I stated in a post above.

Castor,
My response only meant that if your application is VFP only, you don't have to pay Microsoft anything.

However, if your application uses Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MapPoint, etc. you may need to purchase additional software or pay royalties to MS.
