Can you migrate from 8.1.6 Enterprise Edition to 8.1.7 Standard Edition
Or to the same release.
Basically can you go from enterprise to a standard edition?

Yes you can, but you should inform Oracle as the support costs should go down

So all I've got to do is install the standard edition software for 8.1.7 and do a normal migration with odma utility?

I don't think you can use the migration utility, because your versions are different. I would be tempted to go 8.1.6EE to 8.1.6SE then migrate to 8.1.7SE. You should check with Oracle for the correct way.

ALSO the database you are migrating MUST NOT use any of the features of Enterprise edition (Advanced replication, bitmap indexes, or materialized views, etc)
