Dear Listers,

If SQL Server 2000 SE database & server components are installed on svr A
(Database server with dual cpu) (per cpu mode), and SQL Server 2000 SE
Analysis Services ONLY is installed on svr B (Application server with dual cpu), what are the licencing implications :

Given that the database component was installed on one server and the AS component on another. ie. Are we required to be licenced for each cpu,
total of 4, (no. of hosts x cpu), or for 2 processor licesnces because the SQL
Server database and server component was installed on a dual cpu
machine?

TIA

John

You are required to License for 4 processors. Analysis Services requires licensing on any machine it is installed on that doesnot already have a SQL license.

You can run SQL and Analysis Services on the Same machine with on 2 licenses if the server has 2 procs.
