Hi Guys,

Heres the situation,we have a site that manages themselves mostly and has put themselves into license violation.

IP users have been exceeded. 94 user
67 purchased.
They do have a heap of spare multi-device user licenses. we have tried removing a few of their recently added users to see if they accidentally assigned them with IP licenses but on the MDU goes down.

When doing a license status in maintenance commands, it shows local violation causes:
- Over provisions
TBYB - Mailboxes trial has expired.

This site doesn't use embedded voicemail so not too sure where the mailboxes referenced might be if anyone might know that?
Also, is there a way to see which devices are using an IP license and which ones are using the MDU?

Current status of the alarm is Major with 5 days until escalation.

Thankyou,
JCCDM

I sure hope they pay thru the nose for this.

This can't happen by accident. Someone has to adjust the licensing on purpose

Are any mailbox licenses assigned?

To convert a Full license to MDU simply create a MDU-Group for the User

Thanks kwbMitel, don't worry, they will be.

Someone has definitely moved TBYB licenses across when they shouldn't...

Messaging licenses show embedded VM and embedded VM PMS both as 0.

I have tried to create MDU groups for the users to fix this but it shows, DN is used elsewhere, and fails to create.

Thanks,
JCCDM

Users are all set to Service Level Full, i'm guessing this is why I can't add them as MDUG. I think I need to change this to service level multi-device but when attempting get the error invalid service level change.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
JCCDM

I might depend on the SW level for the MDUG, I have used that method successfully recently.

Also, the phone can't have any multiline keys

Release level is 7.2
Active software is 13.2.0.17
Inactive is the same.

A few of them have DSS/Busy lamp keys but I will remove them, make the change and just add them back.

Thanks for the help.

is there a way to see which devices are using an IP license and which ones are using the MDU? If so I can pick out a heap to be deleted.

Thanks,
JCCDM

If you export the Users and devices the license type is included

I have exported the Users and services and I can see the service level but not the license type. All users have a service level of Full, but most of them use a MDU license.

The way it works is as follows

system has 100 ip users and 5 mdu

all ip users get assigned

then 1 more ip user gets assigned

system takes a mdu user and changes it to ip user for that last user account mdu count goes down by 1 ip user count stays as it is

only way to increase mdu user count is to free up ip user licenses then they will go back

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

I'll check tomorrow, that doesn't sound right but I am not sure admittedly.

Thanks Billz66,

so what has happened is someone on site has increased the amount of IP user licenses by allocating the TBYB licenses, that is why they IP users licenses are being used and not automatically going to the MDU license...

So there are 94 used with only 67 purchased, if I was to remove the TBYB allocated licenses and return them to available for allocation, will that randomly delete 27 IP phones or will it just move them to a MDU license automatically?

Thanks,
JCCDM

i have seen it on a large cluster , i couldn't work out where all my MDU license had gone (we had 1200)
turned out i hadn't allocated enough IP users to the local controllers for locally assigned users and when we programmed them they just took an available MDU as there werent any available IP

once i reallocated enough IP users , the MDU cound came back up

you cant remove the license without removing the user

if you deleted 27 users you could then set the allocated count to match the purchased amount ( removing the try before buy and license violation)

then because there are no ip users you can use the MDU as an Ip user

if you had
ip users used 67 Allocated 67 purchased 67
MDu users used 10 Allocated 30 purchased 30

you could add a full user and the mdu users used would increase by 1

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Hi Guys,

I thought I would give it a go anyway and lowered the number of allocated IP users even though they were already assigned. The system allowed the change and automatically re-allocated 27 licenses into multi device user licenses.

System is now out of system violation and all users are unaffected.

Thanks for the help guys.

@JCCDM - If only there were a way to thank Billz66 for his insights [hint]

OK, just for the record, the licence type assigned can be viewed by exporting the Multiline IP Sets Form

Thanks kwbmitel, I will need to remember that for the future
