Licence release (idle job closing) problem

Hi,

We're running CE8 with 10 CAL's - Due to a recent software update, we find ourselves with a shortage of licences. Obviously the longer-term solution to this is to buy more licences, but in the meantime I'm trying to release existing licences quicker by setting the Idle Job timeout settings to 1 minute.

The problem is that I have set the idle job timeout to 1 minute in the Pageserver, Cacheserver and Input and Output servers (for good luck), and have also set the command line in the Web Component Server to :

Code:
"\\VMWAREXPGJN-3\C$\Program Files\Seagate Software\WCS\WebCompServer.exe" -service -name VMWAREXPGJN-3 -ns VMWAREXPGJN-3 -DefaultSessionTimeout 1"

I've also restarted all the services and the server itself. Despite all this, if I run a report and leave it open, the report will still not timeout after 1 minute (it seems to still timeout after the default of 20 minutes).

Any ideas how I can get CE8 to release the licence after 1 minute? Any suggestions much appreciated.

Many thanks, Gavin

Thanks synapsevampire. - Unfortunately, although that article seems to address the problem, the solution is a hotfix that is only available for CE8.5 and above (tried installing on a V.8 test machine anyway, but unsurprisingly it didn't work). Thanks anyway.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks, Gavin

- Did somemore fiddling around with this and found the following: If I test the licence release on the CE8 physical server (i.e. view a report via ePortfolio on the server, whilst also logged into the CMC), the server does not seem to release the licence.

However, if I test the licence release on a client, again by logging into ePortfolio and viewing a report, the APS does indeed seem to release the licence after 1 minute (+/- 30 seconds).

Was this an obvious thing to happen? Its working now in any case so I'm happy.
