hi

when we installed windows server 2003 we installed the licences via control panel and these servers have been member servers in an nt4.0 domain

last weekend we moved them into a new 2003 AD and now come computers cannot access any terminal server

do we need to re-install the licences again for the new domain?

thanks

neil

When you installed licenses, were you installing Terminal Server Client Licenses (TS CALs) or are you installing standard Windows Server client licenses?

Windows Terminal Services check a Terminal Licensing Server to see if there are licenses to use to license connections. That License Server has to run on a Windows 2000/2003 server. When a client tries to connect to a Windows 2000/2003 Terminal server, the server checks the license server (usually a DC) to find licences. If it can't find a license server, it will reject the connection. Set up a Licensing server (you can do it from the "Add/Remove Windows Components" applet and then try into install the TS CALs that you purchased. If you are able to do that, the TS servers will query that server, find licenses available, and allow your TS connections.

If it won't let you use them here, you need to call the Microsoft Licensing Clearinghouse and have them reissue those TS CALs. Doing a search on Microsoft's site for "licensing clearinghouse" should get you the phone number.
