Licence question - Rel 7 to Rel 9

Hello,

In advance, I install the ipo for over 6 years. So I know them.

To the question:
I have a new card which has never been in operation.
For this I have licenses for rel 9. with Preffered Edition and some IP Phones. But the Essential edition Licence is missing.

My thought: I recreate the SD Card with Rel.7 and put it in a IPO and start them. Now i make an Upgrade to Rel 8, so i get a virtual Essention Licence.
Is it possible to Upgrade now to Rel 9.0 without a Upgrade Licence? I newer make a call. What is with the 90 day grace periode? (-> Rel 8).

In result, i have a Essential Licence for Rel 9?

I am pretty sure amriddle has posted this exact situation step by step before search through the forums. It is a neat trick but should not be used for a production unit.
