It is a long shot, but does anyone have a link that gives a brief description of what each (or even just the common) licences are and or what they are required for?

The Avaya line items are a bit cryptic for senior management to understand!

This is on the RFA website as a help me file. It has not been updated since 2007 but will give you an idea how licensed features are separated into type 1 2 and 3 features

Type I Feature Keywords:
Type I features are features that have an on/off or yes/no setting.
The DEFINITY/MultiVantage/Avaya Communication Manager Type I feature keywords
are listed in Table 1.

Type II Feature Keywords:
Type II features are features that have a value or capacity setting.
The DEFINITY/MultiVantage/Avaya Communication Manager Type II feature keywords
are listed in Table 2a.
The AUDIX Type II feature keywords are listed in Table 2b.

Type III Feature Keywords:
Type III features are features that have a product ID, release, and capacity
setting. The DEFINITY/MultiVantage/Avaya Communication Manager Type III features
are listed in Table 3.
