Hi

I just installed version 8 on my machine.

I tried to open an existing .rpt file that
link to Betrieve database from ACCPAC.

The file can be opened, but when I hit the
Refresh button, the following message appear:

"The libarary "P2BBTRV.DLL" cannot be
found. Please check your installation".

I do a search and this file is in one of
the systems.

What can go wrong?

My experience with Btrieve is that it can be fragile.

You may have overwritten some of the support files for this dll with newer (incompatible) versions of those files. Or, possibly, CR8 is looking for it in a different spot.

Can you create a new report against this data?
What version were you using before you installed V8? Ken Hamady

I use version 6 previously. I am unable to
create a new report against this data.

Was the Crystal V6 from AccPacc or off the shelf CR?

You might need to find out from AccPac if V8 is compatible with AccPacc betrieve. They may have done something proprietary. I know with Macola Accounting, you had to have a special Btrieve driver form Macola, and it only worked with certain versions of Crystal. Ken Hamady

The Crystal Report that I have is off the shelf.

I will check with the ACCPAC vendor
and see if version 8 can open ACCPAC
files.

It would be odd that CR6 off the shelf could run against this version of Btrieve, and then the CR 8 could not. Ken Hamady

You may also need to ensure that Crystal Reports can indeed find the btrieve dll. Running Dependency Walker, a free MS utility, will tell you what executables are calling which dll's, and whether they are being found.
has the version suitable for your flavour of Windows. Malcolm Wynden

I will try your suggestion. I am not
sure if I know how to set this up.
Any, thank you.
