Hello to all,

I have a fireworks image with buttons and pop-up menus, which i use as a navigation bar. The problem is that i have to change it often and i don't want to go through all my site's pages inserting it all the time.
I tried to make it a library item, but when i drag & drop it, it doesn't work correctly. It displays ok in the browser but when the mouseover or mouseclick events happen i get errors that say that "foo is not an object".
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

why not use frames?

i don't want to use frames for 2 reasons:

a) i've heard they cause some problems with search engines and their rankings and

b) i have developed my site so as not to have problems due to screen resolutions and i don't know what happens when you use frames.

Thanks for your answer but i 'd like not to use frames.

i dont think u can make a menu as a library item as a whole... induvidual images can be made...

You can make a menu as a library item or a set of text links - most anything really. Try setting up the menu item on one of the existing pages. Then save it to the library. The library item will be in a default folder "Library". Save and close. Open that same document - select all relevant parts in the preview area delete. Have the window Assets open - click on the icon for library - anything saved as a library item will show in the list. Click in the code or preview area where you want the item inserted, highlight the item in the assets/Library window and click insert. If that works as intended, just do so on all pages. It will be some work this time, but next time all you have to do is open the library item and modify it. It's a great timesaver on even a small site.

maxformed thanks for your answer, but it wasn't the solution to my problem. lebisol helped me out. the problem was in the code. some javascript needed to be changed. the library item had not all the javascript it needed, you had to copy it manually.

maxformed :)
was right on the top of things with his suggestion....only this time some JS needed to be tweaked but on any ordinary day his approach will work 100%
All the best!

I have a problem with making a Fireworks pop-up menu into a DW library item - very similar to yours.
Can you please tell me how you resolved it? How to get the javascript to work in the library item?
I'd appreciate any help. Many thanks.
Jean

thank you for replying but I am not sure where pop-up menu is on this page and the corresponding library item. I may be mistaken - sorry to keep pestering!

ur kidding right?
4 links:
+HTML & images - all files needed to see it in action....
+Photoshop Files - well....
+image 60% - lowered quality of images
+library - the acutla library item

again, this is pure DW and images are made with Photoshop....I hate FW so I don't use their mega_generated_MM_menu_code
All the best!

I kid you not. the page has 4 standard hyperlinks as below:

<p><a href=&quot;vlakas_html.zip&quot;>HTML and IMAGE</a></p>
<p><a href=&quot;vlakas_ps.zip&quot;>Photoshop Files</a></p>
<p><a href=&quot;vlakas_60.zip&quot;>image 60%</a></p>
<p><a href=&quot;vlakas_lib.zip&quot;>library</a></p>

I'm not quite sure what this page is demonstrating? But no-one said any of this has to be easy!
Best wishes, Jean

LOL yes, soooo you would point your mouse over the link &quot;HTML and images&quot; (vlakas_html.zip) ...click on on it ...download it...unzip it....look at the menu and then do whatever u like with the code :-| that uses library item...whihc is also downloadable &quot;vlakas_lib.zip&quot;
.....some one else plese feel free to step in.
