liblsm.so not found during Oracle 8i install on Solaris

I am installing Oracle 8.1.5 on Solaris 8.
During the middle of the install, a dialog box comes up and says:

liblsm.so not found

I checked and found that I DO have the above file in $ORACLE_HOME/lib

I also have the LD_LIBRARY_PATH properly set.

What might be the problem?

Oracle's Metalink documentation says that this error is a harmless byproduct of the install process, and can be safely ignored.
