I installed this CD R/W unit into my computer and WinXP Pro SP2 provided the drivers. Does anyone know if I should have specific drivers other than WinXP's for this unit?

I have been getting some odd activities with the unit since I installed it and this is what makes me wonder if proper drivers would make it run better.

The LG site only seems to provide firmware driver updates (i.e. change the firmware of the unit).

Any experience or thoughts on this?

The XP drivers should work for that drive.
-If it's replacing a previous CD-RW drive, then make sure that the old drive is removed from Device Manager.
-Make sure its IDE cable is securely installed, and the red or blue or gray stripe along the one edge of the IDE cable is next to the power cable on the back of the drive, and next to pin 1 at the MB connector.
-If it's sharing the IDE 2 channel with another drive, then try different Master/Slave jumper settings for both drives.
Also, try it as Slave on IDE 1 if it's not already connected there.
-Try a different known working IDE cable.
-Try a different power lead.

If those do not help, then please describe exactly what kind of "odd activities" are happening with the drive.
