LG CD-RW CED-8080B suddenly isn't recognized

I have a 3 year old Presario (1ghz proc., 512 RAM, running Win 2K Pro as the OS) that came with the above mentioned CD-RW drive and a DVD ROM drive preinstalled. While buring a disc today using Roxio EZ CD Creator 5 Platinum I got an error message stating that "Creat50....has cuased an error and the program will now shut down." I rebooted and got the same message when buring again. After about 4 attempts, I went into My Computer and found that both the CD-RW and DVD drives had "disappeared." Can anyone help me get my system to locate them again?

My cousins computer had the same problem. I installed Nero 5 on it and the cdrw/dvd drive was gone. This was on a Dell machine. It came with Roxio but I don't like using it. Reinstalled the drivers but still nothing. So I decided to install CloneCD and poof the drive appears.

Strange.... still can't find out the reason behind it.. but it now works.
