Lexmark Z52 "Cannot communicate with the printer"

Every time I try to print I get the above message and a continue/Cancel print button. The continue did work for a while but now it wont print at all. I have tried "uninstall and then reinstall" without success. Any one help?

Check your printer cable, then your LPT port.
