Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a driver for the above mentioned printer for Windows terminal server 4.0.
download sites etc..

Thanks in Advance

I couldn't find one on Lexmark's site, so would have to assume there is not.

If this assumption is correct, then the choice is either try the regular NT driver (and risk a blue screen - better try it on a test server!), or map it to an existing driver in the wtsuprn.inf file.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Hi CitrixEngineer
Thanks for the info.
I also had no success in obtaining a driver for this printer.
Your recomendation to use an existing print driver.
Can you recommend a terminal server compatable driver for use with this printer.

Thanks in Advance

Lexmark has a universal printer driver package that is certified to work on Windows 2000/NT Terminal Servers and includes support for the Lexmark Optra M410. If you go to the driver search portion and enter Optra M410, select the OS and the full driver package. Follow the instructions provided. For detailed information, do a search on the main site for Citrix and open the .pdf they have regarding Citrix printing. I have used this driver package without any issues.

Hi CitrixEngineer,

Sorry, if I am being a pain.
I have searched under the title suggested.
Unfortunately all of the drivers make reference to Win 2000 and Windows NT 4.0.
There is no mention of windows NT 4.0 terminal server.

Thanks in advance.

If you read the pdf about Lexmark's compatibility with Citrix, it states that the lexmark universal printer driver pack has been tested for NT 4 Terminal Server. Thus, I believe that you can install the NT 4.0 drivers on an NT 4.0 Terminal Server and they will work fine. They should have been more clear with that driver package, but I have installed them without error that way. If you are uncomfortable with this, than please do NOT do it. I do not want to be the cause of your server crash. I only share my experiences.

I agree with Jeff - use the Universal driver and map it using wtsuprn.inf by all means - but do this on a test server first. See my FAQs on Testing for more information - I know I go on about testing, but, as most seasoned admins will tell you, it's essential.

I haven't used that specific printer, but, if it was me, I would first try the UPD, then *guess* against installed drivers to see if I could gain more functionality (UPDs tend to be cut right down to guarantee that they will at least print).

...but NEVER on a live server :)
