Hi! Having an installation situation with a Lexmark 707 printer. Here are the specs:
-XP Home
-ECS K7SEM mobo
-USB 1.1 on mobo
Attempted the install of the printer, which does install just fine, however, XP is attempting to install a second time. The final result is "Cannot install this hardware", "could not find appropriate file".
Now, here is what I have attempted to do to fix it:
1)Uninstall (add/remove prog), reinstall normally via lexmark disk
2)Uninstall, delete reg key, reinstall again via lexmark disk
3)Uninstall, delete reg key, let XP install the printer (not using the install wizard on the disk)
4)Installed a usb 2.0 card, tried all the above there while plugged into the 2.0 card to no avail, all still same "cannot install" result.
One other item to mention. I did install a Visioneer 9020 scanner (USB) on the 1.1, then moved that to the 2.0 thinking there may be a conflict. Scanner works fine on the 2.0, so I'm trying to work with the mobo's USB 1.1.
All trys come up with same result, even after hacking the registry. Any ideas for trying to solve this one would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time and efforts in advance!
