Got a question. I am trying to support this dinosaur and am having little luck. This printer was obsolete before I ever started fixing printers, and I just don't see these enough.

The problem is in regards to this printer with the duplex option. From what I can guess by looking at the service manual, when you get the duplexer, you also get a different paper tray. One that has a gear and belt on it. The tray that I have, does not have the gear or belt. Can anyone confirm that you need to have this geared paper tray if using the duplexer?

I currently have a 4039 10R and the documentation shows the paper tray being replaced with a special paper tray and the duplex unit being mounted to the front paper exit. The duplex unit had a cable that plugs into the side of the printer.
