I am attempting to upgrade the translations from a Legend R1.1 to a Magix 2.1. The ATL cards have been removed. Does WinSPM have a problem with the R1.1? When I try to update the translation, I can't find the output file anywhere. No error messages and no clue. If I need to use standard DOS SPM, can I download it. I used to have a copy on my old laptop (it died). I didn't keep the old software as I had the new WinSPM. I am currently useing WinSPM V7.0. Version 6.0 does the same thing on a different computer. I am trying to go from R1.1 to R2.0, then to Magix 2.1. I understand that the 2.0 step is needed. Avaya tech support could not answer this one.

Wow, I remember DOS SPM, I dont think that will do You any good. I used DOS SPM several years ago, but with Merlin II procesors. I'm using Win SPM 7.0 currently. If You really want it, DOS SPM, I might have it laying around.
Let Me know.
WIN SPM can put the output file on hard drive/floppy, but if it didn't ask You were to put the file, it might be on the processor traslation card.
Dose Your Magix 1.1 system have a 100INA Module? If Yes, is the 100INA module Ver2.0? I believe older 100INA Modules will only work up to Magix 1.5

If you did a true 'backup' and not a 'backup/restore' the file will be on your harddrive and, unless you changed it, will be called 'backup.ams'. The new default file will be called 'restore.ams'. You might try doing a file search on your 'puter to see if they exist and where they are located. There is no need to use DOS SPM, (WinSPM has it's own version- Old SPM).

Thanks for the replies fellas!
I was lucky to find SPM for DOS in the back of our filing cabinet. Thanks for the offerAndrePa! (It won't help, was a suggestion from Avaya Tech. Support)
I did a true backup, the files are on my hard drive. I did the conversion while not hooked up to a processor. The conversion seemed to process okay, but I can't find any new ams files anywhere on the hard drive. I did a Windows find for *.ams on all hard drives and came up empty.
Franke, I also found an old WinSPM (V2). I did rename the backup file, but selected it. I have done this before with newer Legends and not had a problem. I am stumped as I have tried this many times on different computers, different WinSPM releases and different backup files from this system. Thanks for your comments though.
I am starting the system install tomorrow (Friday). If anyone has any other ideas, let me know.
Again, thanks very much for your suggestions.

Hi Guys,
This is what I know to date. Legend release 1.1 does not seem to be compatible with WinSPM. Avaya Tech Support will not confirm this. I did manage to get a translation for the Magix 2.1. What we had to do was get a copy of DOS SPM V7.15 from Avaya Tech Support (thanks to them, but we had to push to get it). We converted the release to a version that we had a processor for, we chose R4.0. Note that WinSPM will not touch the translation after DOS SPM has processed it. You get a "file already converted" error. The file was uploaded into the R4 processor in surrogate mode using WinSPM. The file was downloaded again with WinSPM. After the download, WinSPM converted to Magix 2.1 without any errors. The system runs.
Our system had many board changes, so after a renumber there is still a lot of programming to do. Much better so far that having to reprogram the entire shooting match. Quick access is not available due to some older cards (800GS/LS, 800DID).
I hope this helps someone with a conversion problem.

Thanks for the update Chris, you may want to post your results in the FAQ's. I'm sure others will find this very useful.
