If I unplug my voicemail system from the Legend (7.0), how do I tell the Legend that voicemail is back up and operational? Is there a mode-code to send back to the Legend?

According to some of the things I have read... the Legend polls every 30 minutes to check if the voicemail is alive... I don't want to have to wait 30 minutes for auto-attendant to start working again...

any suggestions?

Why do you need to unplug it? I assume this is a standalone Merlin Mail connected to an 012 or 016 module. I would unplug those connections - and then shut the Merlin Mail down and do whatever you need to. When you are ready to reconnect, first restart and fully boot the Merlin mail, then reconnect it to the system. The legend will recognize it instantly. You will generate some VMI errors in the processor log while disconnected. If restarting the whole system - first power down the Merlin mail, then the system. Do the reverse on start up - first fire up and fully boot the Merlin Mail, then restart the Legend system.

VMI is an autologin type of group - so yes the ports should automatically login as soon as they are connected.

The is an asterisk system that is acting as the voicemail system. Ports are configured as VMI Integ and I pick up the mode codes and work with them. What do I send to log in? Is it just an extension to dial?

I am not familiar with Asterisk. I assume as soon as you plug the ports in (since they are programmed as VMI ports) - the system will recognize them as equipped. Many non-Merlin, generic voicemails have an option to modify mode codes sent and how they are received according to the phone system they are being connected to. If Asterisk has no such option - you should experiment with programming the ports as "generic voicemail" instead of VMI
