Legend Station Busy

I’m running a Legend rel 7 in my home, and just added a BIS HFAI set in my garage. All functions on the phone work perfect (dial tone, calling out, intercom, etc) except when I call the ext it is always busy. I also programmed an inside auto-dial button on another set for that extension, it does not show busy (LED not lit) and pressing it to call the station gives a regular busy (not a fast busy). So I plugged the phone directly into the same port on the control unit, after unplugging the inside wire that ran to the garage. I could call the ext, no busy- everything worked. What am I missing? I could not find any threads on this issue. The inside wiring cable seems to be the only logical answer. Could there be an issue with the pin assignment on the jacks I made at each end? I didn't think there would be since all the functions work. Thanks for brainstorming this ancient but good as new, system!

The wiring seems to be the culprit. I'd suggest reterminating pairs as well as 8p8c jack.

are you sure that you're extending the blue, green and brown control unit pairs?

I snipped off the old plugs from the CAT5 cable on both ends and replaced; that corrected the problem. I don't use the brown pair since I don't need call announce feature. I never seen this issue before where a station was always busy, but didn't light up the extension on the inside auto dial button and all the functions worked on the station. Glad to see the Legend forum is still alive! Thanks all! Jim

Does a close inspection of the old plugs show a conductor or two being out of position [ponder]

I always thought (tell me if I'm wrong) that the polarity had to be perfect for each pair which is how I wired. But I did discover that one wire was broken in one of the pairs inside the insulation, near the plug. I may be wrong, but my experience is the CAT5 wiring which is throughout my house is more brittle then the earlier 4 pair wire which was run in homes years ago (20+), plus the insulation is harder to strip.

I suppose it could cause issues. For me, I always use 568B, but, go with whatever is present at already wired locations.
