I have been reading other posts until I got a headache. Please help clarify what I need to do!

This is a Legend R7 w/ a PRI. Their published fax number is on the PRI. I need to do a remote forward of that number to an analog line that is not in their system (the PRI provider apparently cannot be trusted to forward the number themselves, nor can they port the number to the analog line and get it out of the PRI entirely).

My understanding is I can program an adjunct to be used for the RCF. Does this adjunct have to be attached to someone's physical extension port, or can I use an unused port?

I need to make the adjunct the principal user of the line. ??How do I identify the line number??

Then I need to program an authorization code for the adjunct, and give the adjunct RCF permission and trunk-to-trunk transfer.

A user will dial the authorization code and #339 + the outside number and #

Am I missing a bunch or is this it? Thanks in advance for any advice and help!

MLX Digital telephones had an accessory circuit card that could be installed in the base of the set that provided a connection for a single line telephone or an alert. In programming, every MLX extension port also has an adjunct port, with its own extension number. (Never mind that in 25 years of Legend/Magix installation I probably only installed 2 adjuncts)

TDL Digital telephone don't have the ability to install an adjunct circuit card, but in programming, every TDL extension port has an adjunct port.

So if you have a 408-MLX card in your system, you have 8 actual MLX extension ports with extension numbers, and 8 Adjunct extension numbers as well.

To get to your situation - let's say the incoming fax number on the PRI is 555-1212, the phone company is sending 4 digits, and you want to turn that number around to an outside telephone number of 555-9876.

Pick an unused adjunct, renumber it to 1212, give it permission for Remote Call Forward, give it an authorization code of 1212 (for ease of remembering), and go to a phone and forward it to 95559876

Hardest part will be finding an unused adjunct number. If you program via WinSPM, pull a Dial Plan report and an Extension Directory report. If your system is using "Set Up Space", the adjuncts will be numbered starting at 7300. (3-digit dial plan will be 300-499, 2 digit dial plan will be 6850-6992)

Let's say you find 7301 is the adjunct you want to use.

In System Programming:
System Renumber > Single > Adjuncts > 7301 > Enter > 1212 > Enter (Renumber Adjunct 7301 to 1212)

Extensions > More > Auth Code > 1212 > Enter > 1212 > Enter (Assign Authorization Code 1212 to Ext. 1212)

Remote Fwd > 1212 > Enter (Allow Ext. 1212 to be forwarded to an outside number - you might also have to select RCF Extensions before dialing 1212, depending on your Legend Release)

Labeling > Directory > Extension > 1212 > Enter > FWD2FAX > Enter (So you'll know what it is being used for down the road)

Go to a KEYSET, and press an SA Key
Dial #80-1212-#-*33-9-5559876-#

Thank you very much for the great info! I sure learned a lot!

However, the incoming phone number is xxx-8040. I couldn't renumber the adjust to 040 (or 8040O) so this solution will not work this time. If there is a way around this problem, I'm glad to hear it. Otherwise I'm sending the issue back to the PRI provider.

Lines are numbered from 801 through 880. You could renumber line 804 to line 8041, which would free up 8040 to be assigned to an adjunct
