Legend PRI Won't Translate DID

I've been trying to do translations on this PRI for some time with no success. Calls go outbound fine, but incoming won't translate with the carrier sending 3 or 4 digits. It goes to the unassigned number extension every time. Carrier is set for AT&T Custom and I'm set for 5ESS. Since I can make outbound calls, I wouldn't think that would be the problem.

The DID string is 253-446-4490 to 4979

Any help would be appreciated.

is that the DIDs or digits from the number that are porting over to the PRI (253-446-4490 to 4979 ) because they do not match up with the number's your trying to match

I am pretty sure if the telco sends you 3 then you may have an issue because it will start with a 9. you will need to make sure you get all 4 digits. I may be wrong but that is what i think.

No one has asked the BIG Question here, WHAT IS THE RANGE OF YOUR EXTENSIONS?

We need to know that prior to trying to figure out Dial Plan Routing.

That is what we are trying to massage.

Victory101,

Please post a print of your DIAL PLAN so we can see what numbers your stations are assigned!

....JIM....

Sorry again, range of extensions in 101 to about 165. As you can see in the routing Patterns, I've already tried to route 3 of the DID numbers with no success.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom and advice. So good to have someone to discuss this with. If I wind up making a dime on this, I'll donate at least a nickel.

I always set the network service to any service for any used entries in dial plan routing, other than that a session of SPM Monitor is probably needed to capture the DTMF that the TELCO is feeding you.....

You will have to change your extensions numbers to match the incoming DID's. I think you can only have 15 entries where you can delete the incoming digits and replace with ext digits. If i am wrong please correct me. I would try to change 1 extension to match one of the DID's and see if it works.

Forget about MONITOR, your issues are much more simple than that.

Your extensions are in the range of 100 to 298 or so.

The D-I-D numbers being sent are in the range of 4490 to 4979 or 490 to 979. We are not getting a clear picture here.

You need to know what they are sending, and either MATCH THAT with your Dial Plan, or massage your PRI ROUTING TABLES to make that fit your dial plan.

So, back to basics, what are they sending?

That is, HOW MANY DIGITS?

-AND- WHAT DIGITS?

-AND- How do you want this to work.

MEANING, do you want the DIAL PLAN to match the D-I-D's or do you want to MASSAGE the ROUTING TABLES to send certain numbers to certain extensions?

We have to get on top of those questions before we can move forward.

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm receiving 4 digits at present, the carrier will accommodate me with either 3 or 4. For example, in the first DID, they are sending 4940. I'm presently supporting 12 analog CO lines, and will need to provide for about 16 DIDs for the cut. Eventually I will convert to 4 digit Dial Plan, and make the extensions follow the DID. So presently, I would like to translate the DID's to the existing extensions. I have 2 companies on the system, so most of the DID's will be going to the 2 operator extensions 104 and 140.

Please let me know if I can provide any more info.

Assuming that you are not using any extensions higher than the 100 range, the answer is:

Change your Dial Plan Routing Table ZERO to DELETE 2 and add the number 1.

Thanks for your response. If I understand, Dial Plan Routing Table entry number 13 would ring to extension 142, but it rang to 140, the designated unassigned number extension.

Is this true?

I'm told if there was a change on the module from PRI to T-1, you must default the system and reprogram to get back to functional PRI. If so, can I change the port location of the PRI module, renumber and reprogram?

13 would ring to extension 142, but it rang to 140, the designated unassigned number"

This may indicate you are not getting 4 digits.

"you must default the system and reprogram to get back to functional PRI. If so, can I change the port location of the PRI module, renumber and reprogram?"

I would not do that.

I would leave everything where it is.

Keep in mind that the T1 providers are either Lying to you or they are stupid, or both. Having worked on the cut-over of hundreds of T1's, I have experienced every manner of incompetence, from T1 providers, that anyone could possibly imagine. No, I'm not bitter!

I just borrowed a PRI test set, and I'll go out tommorow and check the carrier output. I should also be able to send into the Merlin and try the routing table.

Vantom, I feel your pain. I fought with them for a week on the T-1 itself, and it turned out to be low levels. They still won't cop to that.

Thanks everyone for the valuable input. Cut day is the 20th!
