I'm about to replace power supplies for an old Merlin Legend in a large hotel. I'm also replacing the current processor with R7 and installing 007MLM. The current system has 3 old power supplies(3 cabinet legend). The first power supply has a line cord going from it to an aux power supply box. The other 2 do not have this optional external power supply but have the port on the front of the power supply. What model# of power supplies do I need for all 3 cabinets. The 012 cards in the system do not have ring gen so I need power supplies with the ring generator. A 391A3 in front of me says ringing output:(optional) A 391C1 says Ringing Output:70V 0.12A 25Hz. Are ring generators separate parts that need to be installed in the power supply before installation? This system has approx 100 exts. Only 5 are MLX, the rest are 012 t/r exts.

The newest, and BEST power unit (For the LEGEND) is the 391C1. 2nd best is the 391A3.

The EXTERNAL "ADJUNCT" power unit were all RECALLED, and for the most part, weren't ever needed. (Figure the unit loads, and you will prove it to yourself).

All you need to do with the Ring Gens is move them from the OLD POWER UNIT to the NEW ONE.

Many times I have fielded calls where they tech replaced the Power Unit, only to find out a few days later that the old one had a Ring Gen in it.

By that time, the old unit was long gone.

Big Mistake!

Thanks for the info merlinman. One more question. Are the ring gens located in the top part of the power supply? I opened the 391c1. It appears there is a spot for a square circuit board to be installed at the top of the power supply.
