Previous posts sought information about how an MWI is supported
by the Legend on T/R ports but I have not found the answers in the
archive. Does the Legend provide 90VAC, dialtone stutter or something else to support MWI lamps on T/R pairs (012, 016 cards)?
A hack was mentioned that employed a loopback patch between a
T/R station port and an unused (LS) line port; the line port
was then assigned as fax equipment and message waiting extension and
VM was configured to outcall to that extension. The line port
was to be autoanswered and could be used to light MWI lamps. I
would appreciate a more detailed description when and why to use this.
On a site with only ATL phones, some years ago external MWI light
kits were installed on ext 10 and 11 since the message lights on
the phones were said to not work -- I will need to remove the
external lights and revert to using the phone light; what might
have caused the failure of the phone lights?
