Have a medical client that wants to put multiple door phones in the hallways of its facility. Can I use the T/R model and connect to a T/R port - 012RG or 016TR? Don't want to use the old door phone controller for the Partner system and I think the newer style T/R door phone might work.

Need a wall flush or recessed solution so the door phone came to mind. Its function would be perfect for this application.

I spoke with a friend who helped write the original Legend R6 & R7 manauls and was a master trainer for Lucent years ago - and he never had this question asked him.

I know one of the smart Legend/Magix techs on this forum will have an answer.

Unlike the Partner ACS, the Merlin Magix does not have a dedicated door phone "function".

One way that you can use standard Avaya/Bogen door phones with the system. The procedure requires 2 ports on a T/R module (or 2 ports configured as T/R on an ETR module) and 1 line port of a 412 TDL module or 800 GS/LS-ID module.

I hope I can explain this correctly [wink]

1) Connect each door phone to ports on the T/R or ETR module.

2) Program each port as a "Hot Line".

3) Have each of those ports dial other T/R configured ports.

4) Connect those other ports to line ports on the 412 or 800 GS/LS-ID modules.

5) Have those lines appear on any phones that require them.

Use the Viking C-2000A controller with E-30 door entry phones (see for details).

This controller handles up to four door entry locations and provides contact closures and camera controls for each area. The contact closure is most often used to trigger an electronic door latch.

If the door phones are to be placed outdoors, I'd recommend you shield it with a VE-5x5 hood ( However if flush-mounting is required, the E-30 doorphone comes in a weather-resistant flavor (
All that being said, you still might want to run your whole project by Viking sales and support. I won't post the number here, but you'll see it on some of the links I've referenced. They'll help you design this system at no charge.
