I was called out to work on a Legend 3.0 I think. Had the external voice mail and no flashcard in processor..
Problem it lost all memory, everything back to default.
I got the system reprogramed without any problems. The customer reported no power outage and system is on a UPS.
Is there a battery in the processor for memory retension.
or anything else that might cause the Legend to loose memory

Thanks

Yes, the Processor has a Battery & later models have SUPER CAPS, that is, a CAPICITOR that has a SLOW BLEED OFF Resistor circuit that makes it act like a battery.

WHY IN THE WORLD DO THEY NOT HAVE A FLASH CARD?

That is the best feature of the Legend product line.

You must have had a power outage. Maybe the building was doing some work & had to turn something off at night that only afected the outlet the system is pluged into. The UPS ran out, & the system battery is old. Thay should upgrade to something with a flash card.

The system has a SLOT for it, they just do not have one, as he stated in original post.

Release 3 was the first with a flash card.

I would get a "back-up" PCMCIA card poste haste. If they have WinSPM - they could also back-up the processor to a PC. YOU should do a back-up to your PC or laptop for yourself "remotely" - so that you do not have to reprogram this system again from scratch.

The CKE3 processor has two Tolken capaciotors for memory retention - they rarely wear out - and retain programming for days vs. hours. However, there is a jumper just below the two round capacitors. If the jumper has been removed - you will have no memory retention. So check and make sure it is still in place.
