I have a customer with a legend rel.7. A couple cabinets with a PRI. System has been in for 4 years now. Always worked well very few probelms. 2 weeks ago started having problems with the 2 fax lines in the system They are PRI direct lines and use the t-1 for out going by dialing 9. Fax would send maybe 1 page in about 8 minutes and then give error message. Tried different fax machines, changed port on the 12port card. No help. So I replace the 12 port analouge card. Problem went away. worked O.K. for about 2 weeks. Get a call today the problem is back doing the same thing. Changed card out again with no differnce. Help!! any thoughts. Sorry for the legnth of this message.

Sounds like a clocking issue on your t1. Do a printout of your error log to see.

I'm not sure if this will help but a newer 016 t/r card might be better but from my experiences with Legend systems, they don't have very good analog station ports. I don't think they really designed them for modem/fax use, especially at the high speeds used with the modems and fax machines used today. Another thing you could try is using an older fax machine, if you can find one, that only sends and receives at 4800. If you do try this and it is able to send and receive faxes, I would assume that the analog station ports aren't capable of handling the higher speeds of the fax machines that are sold today. Just remember the Legend was engineered when we didn't have high speed fax machines.

I'd lean towards the clocking. I've got a PRI and a T1 (only trunking I use), and regularly do 33.6 and higher data connections through old 012 cards. Never had any trouble with faxes.
