I have a customer who just called and asked us to install an external Merlin Mail on a Legend. Never seen an external one before.
Any tips, ides, comments, condolences?
The "normal" standalone voice mail for a Legend is a Merlin Mail unit (the size of a small footprint computer). Make sure it is a Release 2.25 or release 3.05. The older releases are not y2k compliant - which means a lot of juryrigging around the day/time stamp on each message.
It is no different - at all - from the Merlin Legend Mail MLM007. The programming is identical. The only difference is a little less storage on the standalone model - and of course you need an 012 or 016 T/R card to hook it up to.
If you have transfer restrictions turned on (default), you need a mailbox or a transfer only mailbox (cos-20) for every extension. And be sure that the selector codes that match the first digit of your extension range is set to direct extension transfer. Oh, and check the maximum extension length.
ALSO, you may not have the EXTENSION DIGITS SET PROPERLY.
That is, if you have 3 digit extensions, and it is set for 2, it will not work. If I had a Dollar for every time I did that, I'd be rich, well, OK, I'd have a few bucks anyway...
LOL, I am laughing at myself for this one. This was a previously used unit and I didn't check the port allocation. They were set for Automated Attendant instead of voice mail ports. Oh well, that's what I get for assuming. Oh, and I missed the 4 selector code also.
