I have a Legend 7.0142 with loop start lines giving me
an log error of "Lost Idle Message Error" from the ports
of the 4x8 MLX cards...
The tech manual says nothing about this error.
Do any of you Legend gurus know about this error and what
it means..thanks in advance.

This is the only reference I can find:

840F LOST IDLE MESSAGE ERROR:
Loop start trunk lost an idle
message during glare timing.
System has taken corrective
action. If problem persists,
contact NSAC Tier III.

thanks for your quick reply.
This error didn't start till the customer changed dial
tone providers.
They has SBC local DT's. Then went to QuestNet who is using
a T1 and a channel bank.....no internal legend ti card.
So far the customer has not complained of any problems.
What can tier 3 do???
There were no trunk translations changes, so I don't know
what could be causing this??

I am not sure what they can do. If the customer is not experiencing problems - I would just monitor the error log to see how often this happens. If it starts showing up frequently in the permanent error log - and the customer is experiencing some problems - then it might be worth a call to find out more about what this error means. I could find no other references to the error.

Check to see if loop start discount is turned on. Don't know if that will help but its worth a try.

Ken1713 meant to say to make sure that "reliable disconnect" is set to "on". I would also make sure all trunks/lines for each slot with a 408 module or 800 module are set to "loop start" - assuming that is what the provider is giving you - versus "ground start".

upon further investigation of this matter..
1st....LS disconnect is on.
2nd....all trks are loop start.
3rd....the errors are on ss/pp
01/09
01/10
01/11
01/12
the same condition on slots 2 & 4 and same ports.

what is confusing is that the system lists the line ports
as 1 thru 4 and the station ports as 1 thru 8.
Are the line ports actually 9 thru 12???

any ideas...thanks

The ports are numbered from 1 at the bottom to 12 at the top for a 408 card when you look through "maintenance". You are correct in how the "system" sees the line vs. station ports. So - I would just go back to periodically monitoring errors to see how often that weird error code shows up. If everything seems to be working - I would leave "well enough" alone.

I agree with you on....if they have no problems, don't
worry about..
just concerns me that this did not start till they changed
dial tone providers...
I wonder if the T1 external channel bank could be optioned
wrong.
Why would it affect what the Legend sees. Loop start dial
tone is not rocket science.
Maybe there is a former tier 3 tech who might know why this
error exists and what causes it.
I just wanted a heads up on this...in case I have to jump
on the DT provider. We all know how they can be about shooting their own problems.
thanks for the info.
PS...this error code shows up 3 to 7 minutes.

Not sure....

Change LS Disconnect to SHORT, or if it's short, change to long.

But, as stated earlier, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.......
