Hi all, i am having a issue connecting with winspm. Yesterday it worked fine, i go to a new customers site and when i hit connect in winspm the program just locks up and my CPU starts running at 100%. I have to go in and use task manager to end the winspm.exe process. I uninstalled winspm, redownloaded the files and still doing same thing. any ideas?

I've had no problems with WinSPM. My computer is running Windows XP and I have the final release of WinSPM.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Check your serial connection and af adapter. You are using a serial port and not a usb to serial?

I am using a serial, no usb to serial. I reloaded xp, and reinstalled winspm. Will try that out monday morning. Thanks for the response.

man talking about shooting with canons, reinstalled XP?
hopefully it was not a faulty port on the processor

This seems to happen with WinSPM on occasion. I have experienced it myself with Vista on down to the very oldest versions of Windows, so it's a little bug-a-boo in the software...not the OS.

It happens so infrequently that I've never dug in like I usually do in order to uncover the problem. But I'll work to reproduce the error and get to the bottom of it if that becomes necessary.

I WILL tell you that a cold--not a warm boot--is pretty much required to clear the problem. If it matters, that suggests either a hardware "hook" issue (not surprising with today's softmodems) or a RAM address collision with other running software that has "memory leak" problems (Adobe Acrobat is a great example).
