First off we only have single a PRI.
Trunks=837-852
Pool=70

Basically I'm trying set up "inter-office" calls so that instead of dialing EX. 9+1+700+nnn+xxxx, a user can simply dial 6+nnn+xxxx. So essentially I am trying to program the legend so that any calls that begin with 6 would collect the next 7-digits and insert 4-digits (1700) before sending the call out.

Possible?

Thanks!

In theory it should work.

Actually, if you have a UNIQUE Area Code or NNX, you could just let the ARS figure it out and send the extra digits when it sees the pattern that requires them.

-merlinmansblog.blogspot.com

Could you possibly help me out with the programming side of that?

The users would not actually be dialing an area code...only 7 digits.

As an example Site A's sitecode=258 and the ext of the call receiver=1234. Therefore, the caller would dial 6+258+1234. Then the number actually dialed would be,
1-700-258-1234.

Thanks again.

How do they normally dial a local number?

Is there a 258 "LOCAL" Exchange?

Or, is the 700 a special code?

You should be able to set up an EXCHANGE Route the detects the 258 and then ADDS the 1700.

There may be more info available on my website as shown below.

merlinman - I did what you said by adding EXCHANGE routes in the table for the different "site codes" and added the 1700. And it works. However, was there a concern with a Local Exchange? There maybe a chance that there will be a local exchange that "matches" a given site code. Also, doing it this way the users still dial 9 and not 8. I don't have a problem with that, but if there is an easy way to change it to 8+nnn-xxxx for this purpose only, and 9 for all others that would be great.
ARS IS: ACTIVE ACCESS CODE: 9

Yes, you could renumber a pool of lines to be 8. However, this would bypass all ARS Routing, and the insertion of the 1700 would not be able to be done.

Or, perhaps you could get away with having callers Dial 8 + The number and route it to another table in ARS that ABSORBS the 8 and puts out the 1700.

That would put the responsibility on the Caller to know the difference between the LOCAL NNX and the "SPECIAL" NNX.

So, is what you are saying is that you have an OFF PREM Location with no separate Lines between the systems?

-merlinmansblog.blogspot.com

merlinman - thank you for your help.

Let me try to explain this the best way I can. Essentially with our long distance provider we have the ability to dial 1700+nnn+xxxx to get to our other sites. I assume that gives us special rates as opposed to dialing the sites local numbers.

The part I don't understand is that I only have a single PRI. I thought once you assign a line on the pri to a pool, all pri lines are in the pool...how do you only select a few?

I may be able to use the 8+absorb route. But I'd still like to know if you can assign certain lines of the pri to different pools.

Well, since this is a LONG DISTANCE Issue, then you should be programming the ARS Table number 25 instead of all this "funny" stuff.

So, all you have to do there is add the 1700 as other digits, and you should be just fine.

Because it is LD, the ARS can make the routing decision based on the 1 as the first digit. YOU MAY need to just add 700, but you will have to test that.
