I have a legend with version 7 software. I have 408 LS/GS cards for incoming local calls and the 1-800 traffic comes in on a T-1 card. The customer has requested Caller ID. Will the 408 LS/GS cards send caller ID? And will the T-1 card send caller ID? Of course I realize that I need to have the carrier enable Caller ID. Is additional programming required? Do I need different CO cards?

If I'm not mistaken the carrier should bring in ISDN PRI in order for you to receive caller ID and then the Merlin module should be a 100D or 100DCD card. That's the only way I have provisioned this in the past with Merlin. Perhaps there's a way to deliver caller ID from a straight T1 going through GS/LS cards but I'm not aware of it...

Fonedude,
The T1 has to ba a PRI and you will only get The number, No Name The 408s have to be GS/LS/ ID modules

You might be able to have the T1 provider install a Channel bank and break out the channels as LS lines and hook them to 800 LS/GL ID cards, but you will first have to find out how the T1 is set up (does it send DNIS digits? etc.)

To me wouldn't it be cheaper and less clunky to just order ISDN PRI from telco? Then you only need a single 100D/100DCD card on the Merlin rather than multiple GS/LS cards broken out from a channel bank. It saves money on cards, conserves cabinet space, and offers cleaner performance.

I guess if the service and equipment is already in place it might be a little too late. But if there's no ISDN PRI coming in then it doesn't matter. No caller ID.
