On a 391C1 power supply, there is a hole next to the edge connector that allows a post from the backplane to fit into it when the power supply is installed on the backplane. If the backplane has no post, can a plastic post be improvised and inserted into the hole to provide the same purpose?
I know there is a switch inside the power supply that I suppose acts as an interlock so that the power supply provides no voltage on the edge connector when it is removed from the backplane, but I need to know for certain.

Thanks.

That's what I needed MM. Thahks, as always. I was concerned there was a more sinister reason (Voltage change??, or something like that)
Always a good source. Thanks again.

I hate to admit to doing so, but I've actually opened up the power supply and used a pair of criss-crossed zip ties to keep the switch closed (snort laugh). I know, I know...such a cheap guy. But I was in a jam and had to make it work on short notice.

Didn't Lucent used to put an insertable pin in with the PS ?

I like Dagwoodsystem, broke 1 while transportation to new location, quick fit was a small head screw, and enlarged the hole, worked great

Sometimes, you do what you have to do to make things work for the situation @ hand! And when possible, or the time is available, go back and put in the correct item or for whatever the situation calls.

With the people here that have been able to "make things work", and keep things running, I'm wondering if there is a need to alter the software for the date change after 2099. ........maybe.
