Has anyone done the following? We have a Merlin Legend ver 7.0 and i'm trying to program the auto attendant as follows:

option 4 goes to a local extension
option 5 goes to an offsite number
option 6 goes to an offsite number

before, there was an ext 197 which call forwards off-net when this is dialed. 2 questions, how can I change the number this is dialing and secondly, how can I create another extension to do the same sort of thing. The extensions were created as adjuncts. Please help. Thanks.

In the above scenario, options 5 & 6 will aslo go to a Local Extension, but they have to be forwarded out of the Legend.

To do that, sveral things have to be programmed.

Each extension has to have Remote Forward & Trunk to trunk capabilities.

If you are going to do this WITHOUT A PHONE on those extension, you have to program a UNIQUE Account Code for each of them as well.

-AND- You have to put an AUTHORIZATION CODE BUTTON on the phone you are going to use to forward these phones.

A lot of programming, and a lot of learning about Auth Code, but it does work quite well.

It's just that, as the situation you now find yourself in, no one remembers how to do it.

Would the following work?

have prompts 5 & 6 point to an extension on someone's desk and have those extensions call forwarded off-net to the numbers I need to have the prompts directed to. I'm not 100% sure of the call forwarding feature. I think it is *33, then the number if I am correct? Will this work?

That will work, but as stated, Each extension has to have Remote Forward & Trunk to trunk TRANSFER capabilities.

I would just program a button for forwarding.

That way, when they try to forward and the BUTTON LIGHTS UP, they know they have forwarded their extension.

The extensions I would be using already have those permissions as they can transfer callers already. Thanks for your input.

I was able to get this programmed. Thank you all for your help in this matter. Another thing I noticed is that the volume drops once the transfer is made. I now remember why we quit doing the transfers off of the menu. Oh well.....fix one problem, on to another.

Thanks again.

You have the level loss because that is the nature of analogue trunking when it is looped or bridged thru the Legend system and the distance from the CO when they are on long copper loops.

This is one advantage of T1 and PRI. Those losses don't accumulate like they do on copper analogue dialtone.

Hope this helps!
