I am upgrading a Legend 2.0 v 8.2 to a Magix 3.0. I tried from my office to call the receptionist and have her transfer me to *10, but was unable to connect. Using WinSPM 8.0. Also on the Legend processor, the ports aren't labeled SMDR & Admin Like I am used to on later releases. Since I was unable to dial into this switch, I am wondering if WinSPM administration is possible with this version. If anyone has any experience in this area, please reply. Thanks in advance.

It should work, but you will probably NOT HAVE Quick Access.

Connecting over a phone line with a modem is sometimes quite tedious.

Good luck....

I believe some of the early legends only had a 1200 baud built in modem. I may be wrong but it's worth a try.

I haven't checked lately, but I was pretty sure you could not do a conversion from that release of Legend to the 3.0 magix.

Do you hear the carrier tone when transfered to *10??. The bottom port is Always the Admin port, doesn't matter what release you are. You are still able to use Winspm, just that you will get a message that you can't use quick access and you will automatically be sent to standard SPM. If you can't get in after you configured your TAPI in Winspm or while on site, you can reset the RS232 port in maintaince. I would try that next. As well, the R2 had the feature module that plugged in on the side, as well. You can convert the translations with winspm R8, yet you will need a true R3 Magix to upload to. There is no slot for the flash card.

Well my vendor wasn't sure about using the WinSPM conversion tool. If anyone has any more experiences, please post. Vendor also suggested 1200 baud setting on modem, and mentioned that the old modems in the Legend boards are "finnicky" with respect to connection requests...

When I tell the receptionist to Transfer *10, she hears carrier tone through her handset, I hear nothing from where I sit in my office.

In maintenance, to reset the RS232 port, I have RS232 port 1 and RS232 port 2.... Is port 2 the modem port (port 1 the SMDR)??

Duvelbrew, sorry if this sounds stupid but is the receptionist hanging up after she dials the *10?

No need to apologize, that was it! Sometimes it's the smallest things....

I ALWAYS TELL THEM "TOUCH TRANSFER, DIAL STAR ONE ZERO, AND THEN TOUCH TRANSFER AGAIN.

Any thing less than that, and you will not get connected.
