Does anyone have any information on running Legato on 10GbE?

Current configuration includes:
Windows 2003 Server with current SP
HP DL 585 Gen 2 with 8 Proc, 8Gb of Mem
Intel 10GbE Nic (SR)
Legato 7.3
Cisco 4506E with Sup6
Cisco WS-4606-X2-E 6 port 10GbE Mod (Xenpak SR)

Problem: When Legato starts Backup performance is very limited. Tried to tune the card to allow for max MTU and RX & TX Packet size. When we run legato on the 1GbE it works fine with the exception that the 1GbE card runs at 100%

Networker / Legato are the same since being bought by EMC. Networker 7.3 is the application.

Sorry, but Legato was a company who developped software, among them, was Networker ;-)

So let's return to the problem.

Have you checked the autonegotiation of your NIC ?
Sometimes Networker works better with forced full duplex parameters rather than autonegotiation.

Is the problem visible on all clients or just one ?

The standard for all 10GbE Nics are auto. Neither the Cisco switch (4506E) or Nic allow speed/duplex settings. The problem appears to affect all clients traversing the 10GbE pipe. There is lots of information with using 10GbE on Unix/linux machines however, we are caught in the "Windows" universe and can't escape. We have to "make" it work with this OS.

Either approch (legato or networker) is the essense of evil. If you're not doing snapshots, you're wasting storage space and network bandwidth.
