When I perform nwrecover and select some file system from the same server.

(even from RMAN it performs backup without any problem, but recovery is the same)

I am getting the following error.

Recovering 74 files within /tmp into /xyz
Total estimated disk space neeed for recover is 2.1 MB..

Volumes need (all on-line):
full.002 at /dev/rmt0
Requesting 74 file(s), this may take a while...
nwrecover: recover failed: nwrecover:RPC error, unable to receive
Recover completion time Fri Apr 18 11:36:17 2003

Note: There is no problem in taking backup

mouse123,

I had the same problem, my device name was /dev/rmt/2 and I could backup files to tape just fine, but was getting I/O errors when I tried to recover files back to their original location. I was pulling my hair out until someone gave me the magic bullet and here it is. I had to change my device name to /dev/rmt/2cbn.

In Legato, change the device name to /dev/rmt/0hbn or 0bn, but better 0hbn in the Legato GUI, i.e...,

Media->Devices->Create Multiple->/dev/rmt/0hbn->click add->click apply

don't try to delete the original /dev/rmt/0 yet. Next-

Media->Jukeboxes->highlight the old device name /dev/rmt/0 and delete it->make sure /dev/rmt/0hbn is added to the devices: field and click apply->I re-inventory'd the tapes in slots 2-11 in my jukebox->then I ran my group backups again->here's the output of my recover operation (notice I changed the time to present)->

# ./recover
