Legato only backup 1048 MB per tape

We recently installed an ADIC-Robot with 36tapes of 100 GB each(Native). On our new W2K-machine we installed Legato Networker 6.1.1. We used the 45-days temp-licenses that Legato provided with their Media-Kit. If we start a backup of our server, Legato only writes a maximum of 1048 MB on each tape. After this 1048MB, Legato marks the tape full and take another tape to continue the backup.

Please did someone discovered the same problem and what is the solution.

Did u lable the volume with the correct default/ current capcity?

Look at the Device settings.

Device --> edit --> Volume

I label it with the automatically assigned barcode-label. Afterwards the volume is marked as 97 GB of capacity.

What type of drive device setup did you use?

The two drives we use are from IBM, type 'Ultrium-TD1 SCSI Sequential Device'. This is installed under the OS Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 with additional patches. We used the latest drivers from IBM (5.0.2.4).

Hi!

I have found that most of the error whith tapes marked full
is do to scsi problems. Check kable and terminators

The only Ultrium I see on the device list is LTO Ultrium. Did you use that when configuring the device? You should also make sure that the drives are actually supported by Legato.

Because we used 2 LT0-drives that only supported LVD, we have to use also an LVD-SCSII card to connect the ADIC to the server. After we bought a Compaq Card, type SCSII-3 (PN 129803-B21).

It seems to backup well now.
