I have a StorageTek Timberwolf 9730 with two DLT 7000 Drives. I am running Legato Networker 6.0.3 I believe on a Sun Solaris 2.6. I have a one year retention date on the
Legato Software for the tapes. Of the 29 tapes that I
load up, I am always getting 1 or a few more of them
that have expiration dates set to one year ahead.
So I am losing a few tapes here and there. I tried labeling them manually and that did not solve anything. The few bad tapes are showing as Full and when I mount one of them, the write is set to no. They are originally getting labeled but anyone that I mount and then dismount
loses its volume label and the percent used changes
from full to 0%, but cannot get relabled or remounted because the software does not see it as existing.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions on what to
target, as the problem.

Sincerely,

Michael T

Hi,

1.DLT7000 is bad news - normally shows lots of read/write error in the system log - please check.

2.Once Legato failes on write - the tape is marked FULL.

3.If you have savesets expiring prematuraly - it's either an index corruption (run "nsrck -L6",or recover good old index with "nsrcjk -L7".
Prior to this run "grep WISS daemon.log",to check for index corruptions.
4.Expiration can also be a result of a certain client config.

Please post:

1.mminfo -av <bad-volume>
2.Clients savesets and policies definitions. "Long live king Moshiach !"
