Hi All,

While I have managed a Legato server i have never done the install from scratch.

I have a new HP 1U server running Windows 2008_64 and HP Storage Works MSL2024 (24 Tape) Tape Library. That is the extent of the backup equipment.

When installing Legato 7.6 I'm a little confused whether I need to install Storage Node or will loading Legato Server, Legato Client (as I want to back up the server as well) and Legato License Manager be sufficient to control and manage the Tape Library and backups.

I will be backing up 5 servers and about 20 clients, while not a big enviroment they sure do create a lot of data :)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Joe

Do not forget - it is all client/server SW - even if it runs exclusively on the same physical host.

Of course you must install a server ... which is always a storage node as well as he must have at least one local device attached.
And it must also be a client - if not, the server could not even backup itself ;-) .

I agree, the Windows installation menu is a bit misleading as it only states "server and client" but not the storage node.
However, NW knows the dependencies and will install all necessary parts.

Forget the license manager - you only need it if you have multiple NW servers.
