Legato failed to backup index to tape

Legato NT 6.1.1

Can anyone help....

At the end of each client backup we backup the index to a separate tape just for the indexes and in its own separate pool, this had been working fine etc...but last night for some yet unexplained reason the indexes from all the clients failed to write to the index tape...
We were getting the following msg
'Waiting for 1 writable volumes to backup pool 'index' tapes '
I initally thought that there some some of tape error or the actual index tape was full but alas these looked ok...
Any ideas

run an inventory, then restart your group to pick up the index.
