I have Legato 6.0.3 on Windows2000.
The server is a Sun SOlaris 5.7
When i type the following command i obtain this : savegrp -pv -c xxxx "xxx"
xxxx:All level=incr
02/28/02 11:39:05 savegrp: Run up to 4 clients in parallel
02/28/02 11:39:05 savegrp:xxxx: probe started
savefs -s xxxx-g xxxx -p -l full -R -v
02/28/02 11:39:34 savegrp: xxx:probe succeeded.
rcmd xxxx, user root: `savefs -s yyy -c xxxx -g "xxx" -p -l full -R -v'
nsrexec: authtype nsrexec
savefs: nothing to save
02/28/02 11:39:34 savegrp: skipping savefs output line 'savefs: nothing to save
'
--- Probe Summary ---

xxxx:index level=9, dn=-1, mx=0, vers=unknown, p=4
xxx:index level=9, pool=Index, save as of Thu Feb 28 09:37:57 GMT+0100 2002
The filesystems to backup have more 1GB of data and Legato Networker saves only index

This is usually due to the name of the client as defined on the Networker server not matching the name of the client itself (the name returned by a call of hostname).

I have check this and the host name matching the name defined on the server

Try running the client software in debug mode in the foreground and then try a backup. This can be done by stopping the nsrexecd process, then typing
"nsrexecd -D3" (you can also use -D1 or -D2 for less information), this will work on NT/2000/Unix. when you do this it will show you what the client is doing when the server trys to talk to the client. It may shed more light on what is happening. Also you can run the savegrp in verbose mode (savegrp -vvv -c clientname groupname, you can use -v verbose, -vv very verbose, -vvv very very verbose)

If that doesn't work, on the client, right click on "My computer" --> Properties --> Network Identification and click the properties button. Make sure that the spelling of the system name, and the domain is correct.

Good Luck!

Hi

If I'm understanding your problem correctly, you have a problem in the command you are using. You are using the -p option which only restricts the command to run a probe, thus only testing the connection from the backup server to the client and back.

If you remove the -p option, things will work. (or should!)

Hope you get it right!

Hi again

Apart from my previous comment, the last line of the message reads :

--- Probe Summary ---
xxxx:index level=9, dn=-1, mx=0, vers=unknown, p=4
xxx:index level=9, pool=Index, save as of Thu Feb 28 09:37:57 GMT+0100 2002

This backup makes use of a pool called Index. Why? Perhaps check the settings for that pool.

George

Thank's to everyone, i have resolved the problem: the domain's name aren't correct.
For Gerudman:
I have used -p option to test the backup and i use a pool Index to save only the index.
